Tan Jetty Thai Food

Mixed Clan Jetty Weld Quay is one of the trademark of Penang Heritage. There are lots of stories behind each of the surname jetty where all similar surname communities staying together. Even there's a jetty called as mixed surname. Glad that at least some of the cultural heritage area are still well maintain and not affected by the urbanization.

Tan Jetty always been the best scene for wedding photo shooting. No doubt this is a beautiful place and i love it!! See the above photo, isn't it nice? capturing the eye-catching scenery! Love the only scenery shot of mine on that day very much. The place which you cannot be missed especially if you're not from Penang.
Truly that's where Penang belongs to..... the beautiful pearl island.

Aroi Thai Restaurant

Aroi, not sure what's the definition of Aroi is? Surfing through google but couldn't find any of it. If you know, please let me know ya :D

It had been open for 1year+.
Everytime pass by i just say "Hey, when want to go try its tomyam?"
However always end up nothing. Finally, i went in recents.

Tomyam Goong - traditionally prepared spicy Thai tomyam soup.
Seafood Tomyam RM18.90 (S) RM30 (L)

I always thought Bangkok Tomyam's tomyam is the best. But i've changed my mind now.
Aroi's tomyam is the best!!! Just those prawns are very obvious not fresh lo.
Eventhough it's so much pricey than Bangkok Tomyam, almost double.
But it's still worth to give it a try.
It's slightly spicier than ordinary tomyam with a little sour.

Khaw Phad Gai/Goong/Moo - Thai style fried rice with chicken/prawn/Pork Rm9.90

Just thought of ordering a local thai fried rice to try. But it taste very weird! Not dare to try this anymore in the future. Still.... Choice of thai fragrant white rice matched with those dishes is the greatest of all :)

Geang Keaw Wan Gai - Green Curry Chicken
RM10.90 (S) , RM18.90 (L)

Its green curry is more to sweet type and taste a little spicy. Don't really suit my appetite.
I would prefer it cooked with coconut milk and with lots of chili.

Gai Hor Bai Tuey - Pandan leave chicken RM3 per piece (Minimum 4 pieces per order)

Perhaps, my next visit i will surely target on its Tomyam Seafood again!!! :)
Lovin' it.

Bangkok Tomyam @ Jalan Mahkamah Bayan Lepas

,Bangkok Tomyam - Citarasa Ala Thai, the excellent Malay food. This is where the place i'd lots of memories with fellow Dell-ians in the past few years. It's kind of unforgettable as we'd lots of joy, laugher and tears over here. Everyone getting excited when anyone of us suggest, "Let's go Bangkok Tomyam for lunch!" Tomyam! Tomyam! This place use to be the venue for farewell though.

Since i lefted Dell 2 years+ ago, i'd never step into this place anymore until last month i went again. Just because of the long lost Sarawakian ex-Dellian darling come back to visit us :) The familiar structure of building, few changes here. At least cleanliness is improving as I didn't see much flies as before a bunch! Or maybe i went on the good timing this time? Hahaha! Menu change to a better presentation but still with the same pricing.

Menu in Malay
(Try to get translation from them if you're not familiar with ^ ^ )

Always lovable carrot milk :D :D rich and concentrated.
(Not forgetting the 1 inche big flies in my carrot milk once few years ago :P terrible!!)

TomYam Campur - Mixed TomYam (B) RM12.00 *Must Try*
This is still the best tomyam i'd so far in Penang. They're not stingy at all for the seafood.

Lemon Squids RM8.00

Telur Dadar - Fried Eggs with Onion RM6.00 *Must Try*
Request for Sambal (Chilis) as normally they didn't provide you.
The Sambal is the main concern!

Kailan Ikan Masin - Fried Kale with Salted Fish RM8.00 *Must Try*

You may try on other famous dishes as they're tasty as well:
Ayam Goreng Padprik - Padprik Fried Chicken
Ayam Goreng Kunyit - Tumeric Fried Chicken
Daging Goreng Merah - Fried Red Beef **
Nasi Goreng Pattaya - Pattaya Fried Rice **
Sotong Goreng Kunyit - Tumeric Squids
Kerabu Mangga - Manggo Kerabu

All dishes price range from RM4.00 depends on size A, B and C.
It comes with bottomless rice.
Total bill cost 4 of us approximately RM40 includes dishes and drinks. No other hidden charges.

Khun Tai Restaurant, Butterworth

Welcome to the bamboo concept of Thai Food Restaurant -Khun Tai. It's located nearby Raja Uda, Butterworth. The experience of enjoying your meal in a hut with bamboo benches. Sounds so village isn't it?

Shame on you if you love Thai Food but haven't tried Khun Tai before. XD Shame, shame to myself as i'd just tried it once in the previous year. This is my 2nd visit but i still prefer my first with bunch of colleagues getting along for reunion.

Leaf-wrapped tidbits (so called Miang Kam in Thai)
It's a tasty snack often sold as street food in Thailand
Frankly, i'm just confuse for the first bite, it taste weird like goat chewing a leaf.
But it's become favourable after that.

This's the combination of several ingredients dipped with special chili sauce and wrapped with it - dried shrimp, roasted peanuts, unsweetened shredded coconuts, green chilis, anchoview, onion, ginger and etc.

Seafood Tom Yam
See, it seems to be very red in colour. Taste good as Bangkok Tomyam.
(will blog about it soon)

Pandan Leaves Fried Chicken

Instead of their famous thai style steamed fish, we go for deep fried fish served with "Keng Som" which is taste even more exciting, superb hot & spicy!! The gravy taste awesome and those crazy chilis lover love this a lot!!! HOT HOT HOT!
(Bottomless soup refill) *Must Try if only you like extra spicy*

Belacan Fried Rice
This is pretty good taste with the pork and the delightful sambal.

Steamed Lemon Seafood Kappa (the elder brother of LaLa :P )

Kerabu Lemon served with anchovies and peanuts

Deep-fried KangKung (Thai Food must order dish)

Deep fried squids served with sweet and sour sauce (the sauce is the main concern!!)

Thai Dessert - This is NOT the best.
The best Thai Dessert is at Cherry Blossom Thai Restaurant at Sungai Ara, Penang.

Khun Tai Restaurant
