Banana Leave @ Passion of Kerala

When we talked about banana leaf, my mind automatically refresh of Passion of Kerala. It sounds like the synonyms for both of them. Banana leaf never appear in Novelle's dictionary =P Until the recent years, she started to learn about what's the difference of the occurrence of banana leaf is after nasi kandar.

Passion of Kerala (formerly known as Inniras Famous Banana Leaf) was first founded at Brown Road, Gelugor. They serve the best banana leaf cuisine. Later, it had expanded to branches Service Road (Burmah Road) and New World Park. I heard Inniras's is really good but haven't try on it yet. Whereas, New world Park has a cozy environment with higher price ranges and abundance choices compared the others.

This time I'm going to blog on the Service Road branch.

Banana leaf rice typically is a South Indian Dish which comes with an assortment of vegetables dishes. It's certainty another choice for purely vegetarian.

Simple menu for reference

Vegetarian set (RM5 per set)
Steam rice served with 5 types of vegetable dishes (bottomless)
Exp: Sweet sauce bean curd, cabbages with corn, long bean and crispy papadum.

There are three types of curry for your choices - Fish, Chicken and Dhall (vegetarian curry) .
Mixed of all these three curry taste awesome!

The curry is much tempting me than those dishes come with set.
Those dishes are watery and not promising as they taste like had lefted over for quite some times.
Except for Papadum, it is rather great dip with the curry and mint chutney!!

Chicken Masala RM5.50 per serving

Like the spiceness of the rich masala gravy!!

Fried Squids RM4.80 per serving

The deep fried tumeric spiced squids is tender and yet not enough crispy to my liking.

The Service Road branch would have improve their customer services and the hygiene of the restaurant. This is rather disappointing they just ignoring those customers distracted by the flies. Customers came for dining but not work on those flies.

**Recommend: Mango Lassi @ New World Park

Would like to taste on the banana leaf at Brown Road for my next visit.
