Weissbräu, Straits Quay




First time taste on Germany food at Weissbräu, a great experience and i found my "lovely" salmon aww... so good!

Weissbräu, a German Bistro and Bar situated at Quay North of Straits Quay. The word Weissbräu is a combination of German word ‘Weiss’ for white and bräu for brew, which refers to
white brew or white beer (Most popular and common beer in Germany).

Went to Straits Quay quite numbers of time but never realise there's a German restaurant right there, might be because of the location i guess. It's at opposite side of light house, walk out from the doorway beside Cheeky Duck Asia Delight, you will see where Weissbräu is at the corner lot.


100 seats available at al fresco dining area

It has an open kitchen and bar concept with 70 seats available at the indoor.

Carlsberg, Erdinger, Hoegaarden, Franziskaner and Leffe Blonde are available on tap.

Wide selection imported bottled beers are Warsteiner, Stella Artois, Lowenbrau, Becks, Konig Ludwig, Hoegaarden, Leffe Blonde, Franziskaner, Corona,
Royal Stout and Grolsch.

As claimed by the Director - Wayne, they try their very best to have all their dishes are homemade. The passion of delivering good food rather than revenue is impressive.

Classic Caesar Salad
Comprises of Romain lettuce, their homemade mayonaise, tomatoes, chicken cubes, croutons and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.

Hey, it looks like lots of Yacht (crisphead lettuce) docked at the jetty.
Hahaha, how funny? =P But it really looks so, the serving is very convenience you see.

Buttered Swiss Roesti RM24++

This dish is preferred by German people as their Hi-Tea, where when they are awake at late hours, they would like to have this dish to fill their stomach for breakfast and lunch.

Italian Touch Pizza
Mushroom topping with Italian Touch RM28++ ,
with homemade tomato paste & mozarella cheese

The thickness is as thin as a piece of postcard.
The thinnest crust pizza i ever seen in my life, have a try! :)

MAIN COURSE
Every main course comes with your choice of two side dish and vegetables.

Side dish: German potato salad, Garlic mashed potato, pan-fried Spaetzli (homemade egg noodle) or Roesti
Vegetable: Buttered market vegetables or Sauerkraut (shredded cabbage in white wine vinegar)

p/s: The portion is HUGE!!

Giant Weinerschnitzel RM34++
Pan-fried Breaded Pork Fillet served with Spaetzli and Buttered market vegetables.

Too dry for me!!

Crispy German Pork Knuckle RM48++
chicken / beef stock cooked with red wine sauce
Side dishes: Sauerkaut and Roesti

This is one of the very popular hearty meal in Weissbräu!!
Sauerkraut is the perfect match with knuckle.

The original size of knuckle is somehow larger than this which weighted 400g.
This is the outcome of reducing fats, it squeezed after that.
How diligent the chef is? Customer can enjoy the knuckle with the minimal of fats? :)

Frankly, i rejected every different parts of pig except the meaty pork.
But i tried few mouth on this.

I thought it might be a little bit hard but it doesn't taste that way. The crispy skin with the tender meaty knuckle. Dip it on the red wine sauce and match it with Sauerkraut, delightful indeed.

This is my favourite of the day!! :D Loving it so much!!
Fresh salmon, great texture, each of the layer taste differently with 100% and 80% cooked.

Side dishes: Roesti and Buttered market vegetables

The minced pork with herbs and spices are encased in a flavourful lamb casing are homemade and smoked for 4 hours before served on the plate.
This is one of new dishes that they have planned for their menu, but is now available off the menu.

The homemade sausage has its very own unique taste.
Both of them have good texture and taste delicious!!

Side dishes: Garlic mashed potato and Buttered market vegetables
A lightly smoked giant sausage made from selected cuts of pork, mixed with their own special blended of spices.

Apple Strudle served with Vanila ice-cream
Layers of Filo Pastry stuffed with green apple cooked with nutmeg, white raisins and sugar syrup.

Sweet into every mouthful!! sweet sweet~~ Too sweet to my liking!!

Chocolate Mousse topping with piece of pear *Recommended*

Can you believe there's a little usage of Hennessy VSOP on the chocolate mousse?
Gosh, i just can't believe this as i taste Zero % alchohol on it.
Chocolate + VSOP, what a unique combination? I was shock!!
This is definately a must try!!! Love this!!

They are celebrating their 100 days in Straits Quay with a "Hoegaarden promotion" starting from 5th March (the day before yesterday) to appreaciate their regular customers for their continuous support. The promotion will last in the month of March and may consider until April if the response is great.
